ROYAL SMÅLANDS ARTILLERY REGIMENT

History:

The regiment was originally known as 2nd Göta artillery regiment and was raised in 1895. It was formed by parts of Göta artillery regiment and Wendes artillery regiment and it was temporarily located in Gothenburg. In 1898 it was relocated to Jönköping in northern Småland and in 1905 this prompted the change of name to Smålands artillery regiment. In 1928 it merged with the static artillery regiment and formed the Smålands armyartillery regiment. The regiment was the first artillery regiment to become motorized and the name Smålands artillery regiment was re-adopted in 1942. The regiment was disbanded in 198?.
