ROYAL NORTHERN SMÅLANDS REGIMENT

History:
The regiment was formed in 1928 by the merging of Jönköpings
regiment and Kalmar regiment. It was known as Jönköpings-Kalmarsregiment
until 1948 when it got its present name. It is located in Eksjö. From 1997-2000
the regiment raised the 12th infantrybrigade that is being reorganized from a motorized brigade to a
mechanized infantrybrigade equipped with the Pbv 501 (the swedish version of the BMP 1).
The regiment was disbanded in 2000.
