ROYAL UPPLANDS REGIMENT

History:
The regiment traces its heritage to the fänika (tactical unit
used in the late dark ages) raised in Uppland during the 1500:s. The oldest documents are
from 1557. Gustaf II Adolf used this infantry to form a regiment that in 1626 was split
into three smaller regiments of which one in Uppland. The other two developed into Dalregementet
I13 and Västmanlands regiment I18. Its first commander was the wellknown
Nils Brahe. It was located in Uppsala and disbanded in 1957.
Colors:
The regiments colors where red and gold. The banner had the regal apple
in yellow (gold) on red background and the victorynames were in red on a yellow background
