History:

The regiment traces its heritage to the fänika (tactical unit used in the late dark ages) raised in Uppland during the 1500:s. The oldest documents are from 1557. Gustaf II Adolf used this infantry to form a regiment that in 1626 was split into three smaller regiments of which one in Uppland. The other two developed into Dalregementet I13 and Västmanlands regiment I18. Its first commander was the wellknown Nils Brahe. It was located in Uppsala and disbanded in 1957.
