ROYAL VÄSTMANLANDS REGIMENT

History:
The regiment traces its heritage to the fänika (a tactical
unit used in the late dark ages) that was raised in the 1500:s in Västmanland. From this
infantry Gustaf II Adolf formed a regiment that in 1628 was devided into three smaller
regiments, of which one was located in Västmanland. The regiments first commander was
Bengt Bagge. The regiment was located in Västerås. It was disbanded in 1927.
Colors:
The regiments color was white and wore the heraldic symbol of
Västmanland and had blue tounges in its corners.
